Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nothin' To Fuck With!

SRC Records CEO Steve Rifkind recently announced that he has reunited with the Wu-Tang Clan for a new album.

"I just got off the phone with Divine and RZA from Wu-Tang, we are coming back, we are joining forces for one album, coming up in 2007," said Rifkind via a video on his blog, thelabel.blog.com. "I dont know what the name of the album is but we are back, its official. Wu-Tang and Steve Rifkind are back together."

Also in hip hop news ... Mos Def has a new album (True Magic) this week. As for the lack of "New Releases", the end of the year is usually slow. But don't start crying in your cheerios, because '07 is just around the corner with all kinds of new shit.

Tops In 2006 2½: (The Smell of Fear ) - The Albums

I suppose I'll start by explaining why I'm doing 5 instead of 10 like I did on the songs list. I just didn't feel like there were 10 great albums, and I didn't want to dilute these 5 great albums. To clarify, these 5 albums to me are 4 stars out of 4. With that out of the way, here's my list ...

5. Fatlip - The Lonliest Punk
... Fatlip Returns! The thing I dig on this album is he's still Fatlip and he's stil goofin' on himself. The lyrics on "What's Up Fatlip" are the shit. I realize this is technically a late '05 realease but I don't give a fuck. This album reminds of a time when a lot of good hip hop was coming out like Digable Planets, Public Enemy, Pharcyde, etc.

4. Mogwai - Mr. Beast
... Mr. Beast is a great example of musicianship, something which a lot of bands lack. Mogwai have put a really tight album together that has me interested the whole way through. I dig this album almost as much as your mom digs rusty trombones.

3. Peeping Tom - Peeping Tom
... Being a big Mike Patton fan doesn't always mean he's going to put out an album that I'm into, but Peeping Tom has delivered the goods. Patton has called this album his version of pop music, and it's the only pop music I've ever heard that I can get into. The beats rock and the guest appearances (Rahzel, Kool Keith, Dub Trio, etc.) fit right in. Now roll it up and smoke it again!

2. Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
... This album delivers in its entirety. Some stand-outs are; "Modern World", "Shine A Light", and "This Heart's On Fire". This is Wolf Parade's debut album, so let's hope they don't get the sophomore slump.

1. The Mars Volta - Amputechture
... I think this cd was on permanent rotation for about a month when it came out. I've said it before and I'll say it again... TMV is my generation's Zeppelin. This album is pure genuis.

International Noise Conspiracy Pictures

The (International) Noise Conspiracy have posted some new live shots through their site. And in case you weren't aware, T(I)NC did release "Armed Love" not too long ago and I strongly suggest picking it up.

2006 - Aaaah What A Year

Well here it is... My list of the 10 songs most burned up in my iTunes in '06. It was a little easier of a list to do than the top albums, so I did it first. I learned that in college!

10. Tool - Jambi
... The guitar licks on this song are incredible. Well done, sir.

9. FatLip - The Bass Line
... Today's your day! Whatcha gonna do! I'm a long time fan of Pharcyde and FatLip came through with his solo album. Props!

8. Peaches - Boys Wanna Be Her
... As always some catchy riffs and lyrics. And yes that was me suckin' on her titties actin' like I wanted some.

7. Mogwai - Glasgow Mega-Snake
... The up-tempo rockers on a Mogwai album are fairly few and far between, but this one does it. I really dig this album (Mr. Beast) and it will probably make it on my top album list too.

6. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Phenomena
... Even if Karen O lifted the chorus from a classic De La Sol song, it still rocks.

5. Peeping Tom - Mojo
... This is somewhat of a stretch for Mike Patton to write some catchy lyrics over polished beats, but you can't deny it. I like about 82% of what Patton puts out, but this album (Self Titled) is badass in its entirety.

4. Wolf Parade - Shine A Light
... This is a great song and rockd' at the live show as well. I dig this album (Apologies to the Queen Mary) and realize it was a late '05 release, but I didn't hear it until '06 and it's my list goddamnit!

3. The Twilight Singers - I'm Ready
... This is the 2006 anthem. Greg Dulli is the man and put on a great show at The Parish here in Austin this year.

2. Ween - Gabrielle
.... This song is the very definition of "Rockin' Out With The Cock Out". Turn that shit up!

1. The Mars Volta - Vermicide
... This is a fucking great song and if you don't agree, then treat yourself to a bowl of dicks.
